With him is strength and wisdom: he knoweth both the deceiver and him that is deceived.


Who catcheth the wise in their craftiness, and disappointeth the counsel of the wicked.


Woe to the sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a wicked seed, ungracious children: they have forsaken the Lord, they have blasphemed the Holy One of Israel, they are gone away backwards.


Thou shalt not keep company with them, even in burial: for thou hast destroyed thy land, thou hast slain thy people: the seed of the wicked shall not be named for ever.


And the residue of the number of strong archers of the children of Cedar shall be diminished: for the Lord the God of Israel hath spoken it.


And the voice of the Lord of hosts was revealed in my ears: Surely this iniquity shall not be forgiven you till you die, saith the Lord God of hosts.


For the Lord shall stand up as in the mountain of divisions: he shall be angry as in the valley which is in Gabaon: that he may do his work, his strange work: that he may perform his work, his work is strange to him.


This also is come forth from the Lord God of hosts, to make his counsel wonderful, and magnify justice.


And the strength of Pharao shall be to your confusion: and the confidence of the shadow of Egypt to your shame.


For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose. Therefore have I cried concerning this: It is pride only. Sit still.


Egypt is man, and not God: and their horses, flesh, and not spirit. And the Lord shall put down his hand, and the helper shall fall, and he that is helped shall fall, and they shall all be confounded together.


For the fool will speak foolish things, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy and speak to the Lord deceitfully, and to make empty the soul of the hungry and take away drink from the thirsty.


I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, that do all these things.


Therefore the Lord shell have no joy in their young men: neither shall he have mercy on their fatherless, and widows. For every one is a hypocrite and wicked, and every mouth hath spoken folly. For all this his indignation is not turned away: but his hand is stretched out still.


He that maketh the earth by his power, that prepareth the world by his wisdom and stretcheth out the heavens by his knowledge:


Who shall fear thee, O king of nations, for thine is the glory. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is none like unto thee.


And Jeremias took another volume and gave it to Baruch the son of Nerias the scribe: who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the book which Joakim the king of Juda had burnt with fire. And there were added besides many more words than had been before.


And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the Lord: because thou hast been a staff of a reed to the house of Israel.


Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done?


Wherefore expect me, saith the Lord, in the day of my resurrection that is to come, for my judgment is to assemble the Gentiles, and to gather the kingdoms: and to pour upon them my indignation, all my fierce anger: for with the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be devoured.


But yet my words, and my ordinances, which I gave in charge to my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers, and they returned, and said: As the Lord of hosts thought to do to us according to our ways, and according to our devices, so he hath done to us.


And when the ark was lifted up, Moses said: Arise, O Lord, and let thine enemies be scattered, and let them that hate thee flee from before thy face.


God is not a man, that he should lie: nor as the son of man, that he should be changed. Hath he said then, and will he not do? Hath he spoken, and will he not fulfil?


Heaven and earth shall pass, but my words shall not pass.


To God the only wise, through Jesus Christ, to whom be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.


Therefore as he hath fulfilled in deed what he promised, and all things prosperous have come: so will he bring upon you all the evils he hath threatened, till he take you away and destroy you from off this excellent land, which he hath given you,


To the only God our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and magnificence, empire and power, before all ages, and now, and for all ages of ages. Amen.


Do not multiply to speak lofty things, boasting: let old matters depart from your mouth. For the Lord is a God of all knowledge, and to him are thoughts prepared.
