11 So Moses asked the Lord, ‘Why have you brought such trouble on your servant? Why are you angry with me,  and why do you burden me with all these people?

Then Moses cried out to the Lord, ‘What should I do with these people? In a little while they will stone me! ’


So Moses went back to the Lord and asked, ‘Lord, why have you caused trouble for this people? And why did you ever send me?


Woe is me, my mother, that you gave birth to me, a man who incites dispute and conflict in all the land. I did not lend or borrow, yet everyone curses me.


Why has my pain become unending, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? You truly have become like a mirage to me – water that is not reliable.


You have said, ‘It is useless to serve God. What have we gained by keeping his requirements  and walking mournfully  before the Lord of Armies?


Moses heard the people, family after family, weeping at the entrance of their tents. The Lord was very angry;  Moses was also provoked.


If you are going to treat me like this, please kill me here and now,  if I have found favour with you, and  don’t let me see my misery  any more.’


Not to mention  other things, there is the daily pressure on me: my concern for all the churches.


But how can I bear your troubles, burdens, and disputes by myself?
