5 for indeed, you will conceive and give birth to a son. You must never cut his hair,  because the boy will be a Nazirite  to God from birth, and he will begin to save Israel from the power of the Philistines.’

I raised up some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men as Nazirites. Is this not the case, Israelites? This is the  Lord’s declaration.


‘You must not cut his hair  throughout the time of his vow of consecration. He may be holy until the time is completed during which he consecrates himself to the Lord; he is to let the hair of his head grow long.


For he will be great in the sight of the Lord and will never drink wine or beer.  He will be filled with the Holy Spirit  while still in his mother’s womb.


he told her the whole truth and said to her, ‘My hair has never been cut,  because I am a Nazirite  to God from birth. If I am shaved, my strength will leave me, and I will become weak and be like any other man.’


Making a vow,  she pleaded, ‘Lord of Armies, if you will take notice of your servant’s affliction,  remember and not forget me, and give your servant a son, I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and his hair will never be cut.’  ,


So the Philistines were subdued  and  did not invade Israel’s territory again.  The Lord’s hand was against the Philistines all of Samuel’s life.
