When the king heard the message that the man of God had cried out against the altar at Bethel, Jeroboam stretched out his hand from the altar and said, ‘Arrest him! ’ But the hand he stretched out against him withered, and he could not pull it back to himself.


Anyone who listens to me is happy, watching at my doors every day, waiting by the posts of my doorway.


It is good to wait quietly for salvation from the  Lord.


Woe to the worthless shepherd who deserts the flock! May a sword strike  his arm and his right eye! May his arm wither away and his right eye go completely blind! ’


and large crowds came to him, including the lame, the blind, the crippled, those unable to speak, and many others. They put them at his feet, and he healed them.


Then the news about him spread throughout Syria.  So they brought to him all those who were afflicted, those suffering from various diseases and intense pains, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralytics.  And he healed them.


He replied to them, ‘Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, those with leprosy   are cleansed, the deaf hear,   the dead are raised, and the poor are told the good news,


By the Sheep Gate  in Jerusalem there is a pool, called Bethesda  in Aramaic, which has five colonnades.


Now if we hope for what we do not see,  we eagerly wait for it with patience.


Therefore, brothers and sisters, be patient until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth and is patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.
