Adonijah and all the invited guests who were with him  heard the noise as they finished eating. Joab heard the sound of the ram’s horn and said, ‘Why is the town in such an uproar? ’


‘Not during the festival,’ they said, ‘so there won’t be rioting among the people.’


Then  the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence and gathered the whole company  around him.


‘Not during the festival,’ they said, ‘so that there won’t be a riot among the people.’


They will ban you from the synagogues.   In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service   to God.


Then the company of soldiers, the commander, and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus and tied him up.


There was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment.


But the Jews became jealous, and they brought together some wicked men from the marketplace, formed a mob, and started a riot in the city. Attacking Jason’s house, they searched for them to bring them out to the public assembly.


In fact, we run a risk of being charged with rioting  for what happened today, since there is no justification that we can give as a reason for this disturbance.’


Aren’t you the Egyptian who started a revolt some time ago and led four thousand men of the Sicarii into the wilderness? ’


They listened to him up to this point. Then they raised their voices, shouting, ‘Wipe this man off the face of the earth! He should not be allowed to live! ’


Paul called one of the centurions and said, ‘Take this young man to the commander, because he has something to report to him.’


Since Felix was well informed about the Way,  he adjourned the hearing, saying, ‘When Lysias the commander comes down, I will decide your case.’


He even tried to desecrate the temple, and so we apprehended him.


So the next day, Agrippa and Bernice  came with great pomp and entered the auditorium with the military commanders and prominent men of the city. When Festus gave the command, Paul was brought in.


For this reason the Jews seized me in the temple and were trying to kill me.
