Then Abram fell face down and God spoke with him:


Bathsheba knelt low with her face to the ground, paying homage to the king,  and said, ‘May my lord King David live for ever! ’


Honour your father and your mother  so that you may have a long life in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.


Pay your obligations  to everyone: taxes to those to whom you owe taxes,  tolls to those to whom you owe tolls, respect to those to whom you owe respect,  and honour to those to whom you owe honour.


Honour everyone. Love  the brothers and sisters.  Fear God.  Honour the emperor.


When the servant had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone Ezel, fell face down to the ground, and paid homage three times.  Then he and Jonathan kissed each other and wept with each other, though David wept more.


With these words David persuaded  his men, and he did not let them rise up against Saul. Then Saul left the cave and went on his way.


David said to Saul, ‘Why do you listen to the words of people who say, “Look, David intends to harm you”?


Saul recognised David’s voice and asked, ‘Is that your voice, my son David? ’ ‘It is my voice, my lord and king,’ David said.


Then Saul asked her, ‘What does he look like? ’ ‘An old man is coming up,’ she replied. ‘He’s wearing a robe.’  Then Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he knelt low with his face to the ground and paid homage.
