Why should the nations say, “Where now is their Elohim?”


I have spread out my hands to You; My being is like a thirsty land for You. Selah.


He trusted in יהוה, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, seeing He has delighted in Him!


Many are saying of me, “There is no deliverance for him in Elohim.” Selah.


With murder in my bones, My enemies have reproached me, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your Elohim?”


Therefore I have had a vision of You In the set-apart place, To see Your power and Your esteem.


Why should the nations say, “Where is their Elohim?” Let the vengeance of the outpoured blood of Your servants Be known among the nations, Before our eyes.


And repay to our neighbours sevenfold Their reproach, into their bosom, With which they have reproached You, O יהוה.


You have caused them to eat the bread of tears, And have caused them to drink With tears, a third time.


Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she has put her young ones – Your slaughter-places, O יהוה of hosts, My Sovereign and my Elohim.


“Three times in the year all your males are to appear before the Master יהוה.


Let the priests, servants of יהוה, weep between the porch and the slaughter-place. And let them say, “Spare Your people, O יהוה, and do not give Your inheritance to reproach, for the nations to rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their Elohim?’ ”


And let my enemy see it, and let shame cover her who said to me, “Where is יהוה your Elohim?” Let my eyes look on her: now she is trampled down like mud in the streets.


For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living Elohim speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and does live?
