But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty sheqels of silver. Their servants also oppressed the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of Elohim.
There was a man in the land of Uts, whose name was Iyoḇ. And that man was perfect and straight, and one who feared Elohim and turned aside from evil.
And He said to man, ‘See, the fear of יהוה, that is wisdom, and to turn from evil is understanding.’ ”

The wise fears and turns away from evil, But a fool rushes on and is reckless.
The fear of יהוה is a fountain of life, To turn away from the snares of death.
By loving-commitment and truth crookedness is pardoned. And in the fear of יהוה one turns away from evil.
Have you seen a man wise in his own eyes? There is more expectancy for a fool than for him.
Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he become wise in his own eyes.
A rich man is wise in his own eyes, But the poor who has understanding searches him out.
He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But he who walks wisely is delivered.
“The fear of יהוה is to hate evil. I have hated pride and arrogance, And the evil way, And the perverse mouth.
Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind!
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and clever in their own sight!
For I do not wish you to be ignorant of this secret, brothers, lest you should be wise in your own estimation, that hardening in part has come over Yisra’ĕl, until the completeness of the nations has come in.
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not be proud in mind, but go along with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.
