He built the Upper Gate of the House of יהוה, and he built much on the wall of Ophel.
And after this he built a wall outside the City of Dawiḏ on the west of Giḥon, in the wadi, and as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate, and it went round Ophel, and he made it exceedingly high. And he put army commanders in all the walled cities of Yehuḏah.
And the rest of the people, the priests, the Lĕwites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands unto the Torah of Elohim, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all who had knowledge and understanding,
But the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel. And Tsiḥa and Gishpa were over the Nethinim.
And at the Fountain Gate and straight ahead of them, they went up the stairs of the City of Dawiḏ, on the stairway of the wall, beyond the house of Dawiḏ, as far as the Water Gate eastward.
After him the Teqowites strengthened another section, opposite the great projecting tower, and as far as the wall of Ophel.
And when the seventh new moon came, the children of Yisra’ĕl were in their cities. And all the people gathered together as one man in the open space that was in front of the Water Gate. And they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Torah of Mosheh, which יהוה had commanded Yisra’ĕl.
So the people went out and brought them and made themselves booths, each one on the roof of his house, and in their courtyards and in the courtyards of the House of Elohim, and in the open space of the Water Gate and in the open space of the Gate of Ephrayim.
And he read from it in the open space in front of the Water Gate from morning until midday, before the men and women and those who could understand. And the ears of all the people listened to the Book of the Torah.
