And as the sun was going down, a shout passed through the camp, saying, “Each to his city, and each to his land!”


nations rushing like the rushing of many waters. But He shall rebuke them and they shall flee far away, and be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, like whirling dust before the whirlwind.


For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the stress of battle.


“So they shall be to you with whom you have laboured, your merchants from your youth. They shall wander, each one his own way, there is none to save you.


And it shall be, when seventy years are completed, that I shall punish the sovereign of Baḇel and that nation, the land of the Kasdim, for their crookedness,’ declares יהוה, ‘and shall make it everlasting ruins.


“Cut off the sower from Baḇel, and him who handles the sickle at harvest time. From before the sword of the oppressor each one turns to his own people, and each one flees to his own land.


We would have healed Baḇel, but she is not healed. Let us leave her and each go to his own land, for her judgment reaches to the heavens and is lifted up to the clouds.


Your shepherds have slumbered, O sovereign of Ashshur, your nobles lie down to rest. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and no one gathers them.


And having seen the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, as sheep having no shepherd.


And having gone out, יהושע saw a large crowd and was moved with compassion for them because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. And He began to teach them many matters.


For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your beings.
