Now Yosĕph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh sovereign of Mitsrayim. And Yosĕph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Mitsrayim.

This is the genealogy of Ya‛aqoḇ. Yosĕph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the young man was with the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives. And Yosĕph brought an evil report of them to his father.


And in the seven years of plenty the ground brought forth generously.


So Yosĕph recognised his brothers, but they did not recognise him.


“For two years now the scarcity of food has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there is neither ploughing nor harvesting.


Dawiḏ was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years.


Then Sovereign Reḥaḇ‛am consulted the elders who stood before his father Shelomoh while he still lived, and he said, “What do you advise me to answer these people?”
