And one who had escaped came and informed Aḇram the Hebrew, for he dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamrĕ the Amorite, brother of Eshkol and brother of Anĕr, and they had a covenant with Aḇram.


And now, swear to me by Elohim, not to be untrue to me, to my offspring, or to my descendants. Do to me according to the loving-commitment that I have done to you and to the land in which you have dwelt.


And Aḇraham reproved Aḇimeleḵ because of a well of water which Aḇimeleḵ’s servants had seized.


And he said, “Swear to me.” And he swore to him, and Yisra’ĕl bowed himself on the head of the bed.


If possible, on your part, be at peace with all men.


For men do indeed swear by the one greater, and an oath for confirmation is for them an end of all dispute.
