And the sovereign said to him, “How many times have I made you swear that you do not speak to me, except the truth, in the Name of יהוה?”
And he came to the sovereign. And the sovereign said to him, “Miḵah, do we go against Ramoth Gil‛ad to battle, or do I refrain?” And he said, “Go and prosper, and they are given into your hand!”
So he said, “I saw all Yisra’ĕl scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And יהוה said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’ ”
But יהושע remained silent. So the high priest said to Him, “I put You to oath, by the living Elohim that You say to us if You are the Messiah, the Son of Elohim.”
and having called out with a loud voice, said, “What have I to do with You, יהושע, Son of the Most High Ěl? Swear to Elohim not to torture me.”
But certain roving Yehuḏi exorcists took it upon themselves to call the Name of the Master יהושע over those who had wicked spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by יהושע whom Sha’ul proclaims.”
And the men of Yisra’ĕl were distressed that day, for Sha’ul had placed the people under oath, saying, “Cursed be the man who eats food until evening, and I have taken revenge on my enemies.” Therefore none of the people tasted food.
