After two whole years, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile,
He turned their hearts to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.
“When you serve as midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, she shall live.”
When she opened it she saw the child; and lo, the babe was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews' children.”
Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming; but who can stand before jealousy?
