There are some Jews you have appointed to manage the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.  These men have ignored you,  the king; they do not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.’

Then Haman informed King Ahasuerus, ‘There is one ethnic group, scattered throughout the peoples in every province of your kingdom,  keeping themselves separate. Their laws are different from everyone else’s and they do not obey the king’s laws.  It is not in the king’s best interest to tolerate them.


Fury is cruel, and anger a flood, but who can withstand jealousy?


I saw that all labour and all skilful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another.  This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.  ,


The chief eunuch gave them names; he gave the name Belteshazzar to Daniel, Shadrach to Hananiah, Meshach to Mishael, and Abednego to Azariah.


Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many generous gifts. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief governor over all the wise men of Babylon.


At Daniel’s request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego  to manage the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king’s court.


Whoever does not fall down and worship will be thrown into a furnace of blazing fire.


Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king, ‘Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to give you an answer to this question.


Therefore I issue a decree  that anyone of any people, nation, or language  who says anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be torn limb from limb and his house made a rubbish dump.  For there is no other god who is able to deliver like this.’


Then the king rewarded Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.


Then they replied to the king, ‘Daniel, one of the Judean exiles, has ignored you,  the king, and the edict you signed, for he prays three times a day.’


As soon as the king heard this, he was very displeased; he set his mind on rescuing Daniel  and made every effort until sunset to deliver him.


and Jason has welcomed them. They are all acting contrary to Caesar’s decrees,  saying that there is another king #– #Jesus.’


‘Didn’t we strictly order you not to teach in this name?  Look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.’
