So Ahab went to eat and drink, but Elijah went up to the summit of Carmel.  He bent down on the ground and put his face between his knees.


He entered a cave  there and spent the night. Suddenly, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, ‘What are you doing here, Elijah? ’


Elijah took his mantle,  rolled it up, and struck the water, which parted to the right and left. Then the two of them crossed over on dry ground.


Then I will take my hand away, and you will see my back, but my face will not be seen.’


Seraphim  were standing above him; they each had six wings:  with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.


Then I said: Woe is me,  for I am ruined, because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Armies.


Jonah left the city and found a place east of it.  He made himself a shelter there and sat in its shade to see what would happen to the city.


They were stoned,  , they were sawn in two, they died by the sword, they wandered about in sheepskins, in goatskins,  destitute, afflicted, and mistreated.
