Now when these things were done, the word of the Lord came to Abram by a vision, saying: Fear not, Abram, I am thy protector, and thy reward exceeding great.


And when the sun was setting, a deep sleep fell upon Abram: and a great and darksome horror seized upon him.


And he said: I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, like sheep that have no shepherd. And the Lord said: These have no master: let every man of them return to his house in peace.


As the appearance of the rainbow when it is in a cloud on a rainy day: this was the appearance of the brightness round about.


He said to them: Hear my words: If there be among you a prophet of the Lord, I will appear to him in a vision, or I will speak to him in a dream.


God therefore came to Balaam in the night, and said to him: If these men be come to call thee, arise and go with them. Yet so, that thou do what I shall command thee.


Forthwith the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel standing in the way with a drawn sword: and he worshipped him falling flat on the ground.


Therefore taking up his parable, again he said: Balaam, the son of Beor, hath said: The man whose eye is stopped up hath said:


How beautiful are thy tabernacles, O Jacob, and thy tents, O Israel!


And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind.


And as Peter was thinking of the vision, the Spirit said to him: Behold three men seek thee.


And it came to pass, when I was come again to Jerusalem, and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance,


I was in the spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,


And when I had seen him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying: Fear not. I am the First and the Last,


And he stripped himself also of his garments, and prophesied with the rest before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and night. This gave occasion to a proverb: What! Is Saul too among the prophets?
