U-Ahazi wathumela izithunywa kuThigilathi Phileseri, inkosi yase-Asiriya, wathi: “Mina ngiyinceku yakho nendodana yakho; khuphuka ungisindise esandleni senkosi yase-Aramu, nasesandleni senkosi yakwa-Israyeli, abangivukele.”

“Izenzo zabo azibavumeli ukuba babuyele kuNkulunkulu wabo, ngokuba umoya wobufebe usezibilini zabo, futhi abamazi uSimakade.
Imihlatshelo eyethulwa kimi bayayihlaba, badle inyama yayo, kodwa uSimakade akayithokozeli. Manje uyasikhumbula isiphabheko sabo, abajezise ngezono zabo, babuyele eGibhithe.
Abayukuhlala ezweni likaSimakade, u-Efrayimi uyakubuyela eGibhithe, badle ukudla okungcolileyo e-Asiriya.
Bhekani-ke, noma bangaphunyuka ekubhujisweni, kodwa iGibhithe liyakubabutha, iNofi ibambele; ingcebo yabo yesiliva idliwe yimbabazane, kube nameva emathendeni abo.
Bonke owenze isivumelwano nabo bayakukuxoshela emingceleni; abantu obuhleli nabo ngokuthula bayakukukhohlisa, bakunqobe; labo obudla isinkwa sakho nabo bayakubeka ugibe phansi kwakho; akekho oluqondayo.
“Bhekani lapha, ngiyanithuma njengezimvu phakathi kwezimpisi, ngakho-ke hlakaniphani njengezinyoka, nibe mnene njengamajuba.
