What is going to happen according to end times prophecy?

Response

The Bible discusses the end times extensively. Almost every book of the Bible includes prophecies about the end times. It can be challenging to organize all these prophecies. Below is a concise overview of what the Bible predicts will occur in the end times.

Christ will take all believers who have been born again from the earth in an event called the rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18;1 Corinthians 15:51-54). At the judgment seat of Christ, these believers will receive rewards for their good works and faithful service during their time on earth, or they may lose rewards, though not eternal life, due to lack of service and obedience (1 Corinthians 3:11-15;2 Corinthians 5:10).

The Antichrist (the beast) will rise to power and make a covenant with Israel for seven years «And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.», (Daniel 9:27). This seven-year period is known as the “tribulation.” Throughout the tribulation, there will be devastating wars, famines, plagues, and natural disasters. God will unleash His wrath against sin, evil, and wickedness. The tribulation will involve the emergence of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse and the seven seals.

At the midpoint of the seven years, the Antichrist will violate the peace covenant with Israel and wage war against it. He will commit “the abomination of desolation” and erect an image of himself to be worshipped in the temple in Jerusalem (Daniel 9:27;2 Thessalonians 2:3-10), which will have been reconstructed. The latter part of the tribulation is referred to as “the great tribulation” “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”, (Revelation 7:14) and “the time of Jacob’s trouble” “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”, (Jeremiah 30:7).

At the conclusion of the seven-year tribulation, the Antichrist will initiate a final assault on Jerusalem, leading to the battle of Armageddon. Jesus Christ will return, defeat the Antichrist and his forces, and cast them into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:11-21). Christ will then confine Satan in the Abyss for 1,000 years and establish His earthly kingdom during this millennium (Revelation 20:1-6).

Following the thousand years, Satan will be released, defeated once more, and then cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7-10) for eternity. Christ will then judge all unbelievers (Revelation 20:10-15) at the final judgment.

The Great White Throne Judgment will cast them all into the lake of fire. Christ will then introduce a new heaven and a new earth along with the New Jerusalem—the everlasting abode of believers. There will be an absence of sin, sorrow, and death (Revelation 21–22).
