What does it mean when God says, “I am with you” (Isaiah 41:10)?

Answer

In Isaiah 41, God begins outlining His plan for redeeming the remnant of Israel. The Jewish people would face numerous hardships and challenges on their journey back home. Undoubtedly, they would feel fear as they embarked on the significant task of rebuilding in the days ahead. Three times in this chapter, the Lord addresses that fear with comforting and reassuring words:

“So do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”

(Isaiah 41:10;see also Isaiah 41:13-14).
