Is there a difference between the book of life and the Lamb’s book of life?

Response

There are eight mentions in the New Testament of the “book of life,” and two of them specifically mention the book of life belonging to the Lamb, Jesus Christ. Seven of these mentions are found in the book of Revelation. Those whose names are inscribed in the book of life are individuals who belong to God and have obtained eternal life.

Paul makes reference to those who have worked alongside him as individuals whose names are recorded in the book of life «And I urge you also, true companion, help those women who labored with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.», (Philippians 4:3), once again identifying the book of life as a register of the names of those who have received eternal salvation. Similarly, Revelation 3:5 mentions the book of life where the names of believers in the Lord are inscribed. These are the individuals who overcome the challenges of earthly life, demonstrating the authenticity of their salvation. This verse also emphasizes that once a name is inscribed in the book of life, Jesus assures that He will never erase it, reaffirming the doctrine of eternal security. The Lord Jesus, addressing the churches in this section of Revelation, pledges to acknowledge His own before His Father. In contrast, Revelation 20:15 discloses the destiny of those whose names are not listed in the book of life—eternity in the lake of fire.

Revelation 17:8 explains when the names of the redeemed are recorded in the book of life: “The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast” (emphasis added). The names of those who support the Antichrist are absent from the book of life, and the names that are included in the book of life were inscribed there before the world was cre

Seated. Thus, Revelation 17:8 teaches both eternal security and election.

In Revelation 13:8 and 21:27, we find references to the “Lamb’s Book of Life,” in which are also the names of all those who have been washed by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. The Lamb who has been “slain from the creation of the world” has a book in which all those who have been redeemed by His sacrifice are written. They are the ones who will enter the Holy City, the New Jerusalem «And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, », (Revelation 21:10) and who will live forever in heaven with God. Since the Book of Life records all who have eternal life through the Lamb, it’s evident that the Book of Life and the Lamb’s Book of Life are one and the same.
