The day of Christ is a prophetic occurrence specifically mentioned three times in the New Testament; the apostle Paul refers to “the day of Christ,” “the day of Jesus Christ,” and “the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.” While other New Testament verses may hint at the day of Christ, the use of this terminology is exclusive to Paul’s writings. Let’s explore these three passages in their appropriate scriptural context. The first one is Philippians 1:3–6:
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am confident of this, that he who initiated a good work in you will carry it out to completion on the day of Jesus Christ (ESV).
