Animals as well as human beings have the same right to life and that is why they must be free without anyone going against their welfare. But apparently people do not understand this right and profit from animals as if they were objects in order to achieve their goals regardless of the health and welfare of these, as is the case of a zoo in Indonesia called ‘the zoo of death ‘

The Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia is quite scary even though it is a tourist destination, the life that the animals take is very scary because of the mistreatment they are given and the saddest thing is that tourists continue to visit the place regardless of the conditions in which they live. what are these poor animals.

The simple fact of living in a small space is a threat against their health because the animals that are in captivity require special conditions very similar to their natural habitat, not to mention that most of them suffer from malnutrition.

Something very unfortunate in this zoo is that the animals are beaten to train them, many visitors are witnesses of the mistreatment that the caregivers give them based on blows with objects without any reason, sometimes just for fun.

An investigation conducted by East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) found that in this place many animals have died since its opening that was in 1916. In 2008 and 2009 about 690 animals of different species died, and each month the death of 25 more animals is reported.

Clearly there is a great negligence on the part of the owners of the zoo, besides that many are stolen because the same owners traffic with them. One of the main causes of death of animals is the lack of care given to them in addition to malnutrition, sometimes they ingest objects of hunger they have and are often suffocated by swallowing them, many others die due to diseases due to the lack of medical care.

In the face of this terrible situation, a petition has been made at charge.org addressed to the president and the authorities with the intention of closing the zoo. So far, 507,823 signatures have been collected. We hope that this petition will be carried out soon as the cruelty to animals is outrageous. To make matters worse, most of these animals are sick, which can cause different viruses if they relocate in their habitat, which is why you need to take care of them as soon as possible.

It is difficult to see how many animals are mistreated and deprived of their freedom due to the greed of the human being. Nobody deserves to be hurt regardless of sex, species, race or gender.
