Pastor asks parents not to let children listen to Nicki Minaj’s songs: ‘Promotes promiscuity’

Today’s pop artists form a group that poses a serious threat to the formation of young Christians, said pastor Larry Tomczak, revealing that he is praying for fans of singer Nicki Minaj.

Tomczak addressed the context and influence of singer Nicki Minaj on youth, stating that she and other artists, such as Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, represent an entertainment model that ‘is not harmless’ as the mainstream media tries to make it look like.

‘What is happening in the music industry is undermining morale, the promotion of promiscuity,’ the minister said in an article for the news portal Carisma, noting that the content is intended to corrupt the values of the traditional family.

According to Tomczak, contemporary youth is not receiving the necessary guidance to distinguish what is inappropriate from what is not: ‘Our mission is clear: to monitor the entertainment of our children, by making young disciples have a notion of how to’ remove the precious of the ‘vile’ (Jer 15:19), ‘the pastor added.

Pope Benedict XVI asked parents to pray to God asking for the emergence of female artists who build their careers in a context of healthier entertainment, to reject the ‘sin that impedes the presence of God in our homes and churches’ .

In his article, Larry Tomczak points out that one of the most subtle points of manipulation are Nicki Minaj’s statements about his faith, declaring himself Christian and referring to God as his ‘hero’. For the pastor, that would be a ‘camouflage’ to liven up the possible rejection of his work, which brings explicit erotic content, and ensure the investment of companies that sponsor it, such as Pepsi and Adidas.

In opposition to Pastor Larry Tomczak’s warnings, Nicki Minaj’s mother, Carol Maraj, said that she and her daughter are true Christians and that they recognize the importance of faith in their lives.

‘She always has my invitation and my pastor to pray for different concerns I may have. I believe that, by recognizing the power of prayer, his strong desire to tithe, along with his mother’s cry, contributed to his success, ‘Carol said.

The conflict between pop music and moral values is something that has lasted for decades, but Tomczak believes that this is a time to be attentive, because ‘the future of our families and nation are in balance’.
