“I didn’t do anything, it was God who made me play like this,” says soccer star Lionel Messi

During an interview, the Argentine soccer player credited all the success of his sports career and his talent to God, recognizing that without God’s help he would not have achieved it.

In the world of sports, it is very common for some athletes to share their faith with the public to show that they believe in something greater.

Usually, it happens with well-known athletes but it is not that common among the most famous ones; For this reason, many were surprised when Lionel Messi did it.

During an interview, the footballer who plays at Paris Saint-Germain, shared a bit of how he sees God in his sports career, stating that God gave him the talent to play with the skill with which he does.

“The truth is I didn’t do anything, it was God who made me play like this,” Messi began by saying.

Listening to his words, the interviewer, to corroborate his comments, asks him if he believes that his talent is a divine gift, to which he answers affirmatively.

“Obviously he (God) gave me that gift, I have no doubt about that. He chose me and, obviously, I then did everything possible to try to improve myself and achieve success,” stressed the Argentine, famous for playing several years for FC Barcelona.

Before concluding, he emphasized his dependence on the Lord, accepting that without his help, he would not have been able to get to where he has brought him.

“But obviously, without His help, I would not have gotten anywhere,” Messi said.

Pastor Ale Gómez, who shared the video of the interview on his Instagram account, gave a reflection on the player’s statements, congratulating the soccer star for his courage by speaking about God.

Gomez said that although the footballer has never been seen entering any evangelical church, it is admirable to see how he recognizes that he has not been able to achieve all things on his own.

Certainly, the effort of a person to achieve their dreams is something to admire, but it is better when we realize that the hand of God has rested on us to help and bless us, explains the preacher.
