The athlete Damar Hamlin, for the glory of God, woke up and can now communicate with those closest to him. It is a great miracle attributed to the thousands of prayers that many people made for his speedy recovery.

Hamlin, who plays for the Buffalo Bills, is now able to breathe on his own and can speak after having a tube removed to help him breathe after he went into cardiac arrest while playing in an NFL game earlier this year.

His agent and Damar’s team issued a statement announcing that Hamlin “continues to progress remarkably” and his “neurologic function remains intact.”

Last Thursday Hamlin woke up with hopes that he could share a few words after regaining consciousness, so he did some FaceTime with his teammates and coaches.

Likewise, he can also writes and the most curious thing is that he woke up asking who won the game in which he suffered the heart attack, more specifically if his team had won.

“Did we win?” he asked, to which the doctors replied “Yes, Damar. You won. You won the game of life.”

According to Ron Butler, Damar’s agent, the player opened his eyes in the early hours of Thursday morning and held hands with family in the hospital just as the Bills were scheduled to return to practice for the first time since last Monday’s incident.

That day, while playing, Hamlin received a strong blow to the chest, for which he was knocked down on the field, He briefly got up and adjusted his facemask before falling backward without giving signs of life; 10 minutes of CPR passed for him to be taken to the emergency room while his teammates held a large prayer wheel in the field in favor of his healing.

Many places became places of prayer for his life, from New York to Ohio and even on the air through an ESPN analyst who prayed for him while he was hosting a show.

None of those prayers were in vain, because God answered them with a new opportunity of life to heal.

The Buffalo Bills and cornerback Kaiir Elam tweeted updates on Hamlin Thursday morning.

“Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement,” he wrote. “Thank you, God. Keep the prayers coming please. All love 3!”

His family is encouraged and overwhelmed by the support they have received, especially the prayers.

“They are elated right now. Damar is still their first concern. But for them, they always look at how they can turn a somewhat troubling situation into a good one. The bounce back from this, for him and his family, is going to be incredible,” Hamlin’s marketing representative, Jordon Rooney said.
