Christian apologist says Asbury Revival Is ‘exactly what we’ve been expecting’

The wave of revival that is happening in Asbury is something that has everyone crying out for more people who seek God with all their hearts so that their lives change and follow Christ, the same one that is already spreading the fire to other universities that also want to live what has been started by the hand of God.

Christian apologist says Asbury Revival Is ‘exactly what we’ve been expecting’.

For Dr. Michael Brown, who was one of the main figures in the ministry during the Brownsville revival in Pensacola, Florida in 1995 and which lasted for several years, expresses that this new manifestation of hunger and thirst for God has him “excited ” but not surprised for a simple reason.

“First, I’m thrilled to hear the reports. I know some people on or near the campus that have come back with wonderful reports. So, I’m rejoicing, I’m blessed, but I’m not the least bit surprised,” Dr. Brown shared in a Charisma News exclusive interview.

“In fact, this is exactly what we’ve been expecting…for several years now I’ve had this picture very clearly in my mind’s eye of revival breaking out all over America in many, many, many different places,” he added.

What is happening today is what they have expected for years, and now it is a reality more than a dream come true, it is the manifestation of thirsty hearts that seek to be near the Lord and dwell in his presence; Dr. Brown says that this is not planned at all, as it is something that the Lord has placed in the hearts and in the will of many to contrite hearts repenting and praising His holy name.

“I would say to people you can no more schedule the revival [than] you can schedule a hurricane. Revival is not something man sends up, revival is something that God sends down…apparently one of the key things that I understand that broke out was a confession of sin, and that’s going to happen when the Holy Spirit comes, and that’s going to trigger something,” he explained.

With prophetic words saying that revival will catch fire and spread across the nation, many also want to maintain the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and bask in the glory of God.

Many want the fires to burn elsewhere and keep the outpouring of the Holy Spirit going and still enjoying the presence of God, but Brown reflects on how to balance this with the practicalities of life and keep the supernatural fire alive.

For Brown, believers must go from “the wave of refreshing” into “full blown revival”: with the following steps:

  • Keep your eyes on Jesus.
  • Give place to the Spirit to move.
  • Major on the majors: Holiness and harvest.

“The message of repentance for the saved [is] to turn to God and get right, the message of repentance to the lost [is] to come to Him. In times like this, things get very intense and they become humanly unsustainable,” he said.

“My schedule during the Brownsville days, in terms of being in services and being in ministry related activity, was between 70 and 80 hours a week. So, at a certain point, you start to burn out. At a certain point you have to say, ‘How do we manage this?’” he continued.

“There has to be divine wisdom given to leaders to find the sustainable place, he added.

These practical steps to maintaining the outpouring of the Holy Spirit yield yet another example of relying on God, which is the very foundation of not just the Christian relationship with Him, but inviting His holy fire down and receiving it.

Brown stated that this spontaneous event should not be momentary but included in daily life when people understand the great human need for God at all times, and it is with such humility and obedience in true repentance and longing for His presence that they open the door for Him to bring down His glory on earth.

Then, could this wave of revival do what many have asked for decades in America?: a change in society that will turn the heart of the country back to God and his commandments.

“It is on the heels of a sweeping revival in America that we can see reformation and change come. We can go from revival to awakening,” he concluded.
