China takes over Christian churches and turns them into communist indoctrination centres

Communist authorities in China have converted several Christian churches into cultural centers that worship and promote socialism in the country.

Church in China before the expropriation

According to information provided by the China Aidinforms Surveillance Persecution System, one of the churches in Jiangsu was occupied by Chinese Communist Party forces and turned into a cultural centre for the entire municipality.

This church was previously dismantled by the authorities and accused of “occupying the cultural space of the region.” One of the witnesses told ChinaAid that the building now only promotes socialist and communist values so that “positive energy can flow.”

The Beizhouzhuang Church in the same county became the “Beizhouzhuang Cultural Compound” after a “voluntary donation” of the site. The temple was sanctioned last year for not being registered.

In recent months, multiple churches have been violated by the Chinese government, a strategy of President Xi Jingping to diminish Christianity in the country.

Reports from Open Doors record that locals witness the demolition of their temples as well as the removal of all crosses identifying beliefs in Jesus.

The government also recently forced poor Chinese Christians to renounce their faith in order to continue receiving a living allowance.

“I witnessed first-hand how the Chinese government is using massive surveillance and data modeling to monitor and punish citizens who choose to attend church or share religious material,” said David Curry, CEO of Open Doors USA.

And although Christianity predominates in the country, China is declared a completely atheist country, ranking 23rd on the list of most persecuted countries for their faith.
