She added, “We have plenty of both straw and fodder, and room to spend the night.”


Then they loaded their donkeys with their grain and departed.


As they emptied their sacks, behold, every man’s bundle of money was in his sack. And when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.


And the men were afraid because they were brought to Joseph’s house, and they said, “It is because of the money, which was replaced in our sacks the first time, that we are brought in, so that he may assault us and fall upon us to make us servants and seize our donkeys.”


Then each man quickly lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.


At a lodging place on the way the Lord met him and sought to put him to death.


He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.


And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
