Thus says the king: ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of my hand.


In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised.


They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.


And you magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and multiplied your words against me; I heard it.


They return, but not upward; they are like a treacherous bow; their princes shall fall by the sword because of the insolence of their tongue. This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.


and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority. Bold and willful, they do not tremble as they blaspheme the glorious ones,


For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error.


These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.


Now there was no blacksmith to be found throughout all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, “Lest the Hebrews make themselves swords or spears.”
