The friendship[1] of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes known to them his covenant.


Like a lame man's legs, which hang useless, is a proverb in the mouth of fools.


And the Lord said: "Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,


"There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."


Again, when a wicked person turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he shall save his life.


God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."


But I discipline my body and keep it under control,[2] lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.


not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.
