And they told the king, "Here is Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he bowed before the king, with his face to the ground.


King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." So they came before the king.


And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil." And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."


Let a righteous man strike me -- it is a kindness; let him rebuke me -- it is oil for my head; let my head not refuse it. Yet my prayer is continually against their evil deeds.


Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance,


The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.


A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.


Poverty and disgrace come to him who ignores instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is honored.


A scoffer does not like to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.


Strike a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; reprove a man of understanding, and he will gain knowledge.


Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding.


Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words.


Whoever rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than he who flatters with his tongue.


He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.


But they were silent and answered him not a word, for the king's command was, "Do not answer him."
