And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting my name there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.


And David built there an altar to the LORD and presented burnt offerings and peace offerings and called on the LORD, and the LORD[2] answered him with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering.


Then David said, "Here shall be the house of the LORD God and here the altar of burnt offering for Israel."


but I have chosen Jerusalem that my name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.'


Then the LORD appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.


For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.


For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling place:


but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.


Thus says the LORD: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?


But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem.


Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock."


And when the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, you shall set the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.


"When you have crossed over the Jordan, these shall stand on Mount Gerizim to bless the people: Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Joseph, and Benjamin.
