Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged on it; then go with the king to the banquet in good spirits.” This advice pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.


So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the anger of the king abated.


Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake with horror.


Their mischief returns upon their own heads, and on their own heads their violence descends.


He will repay them for their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.


The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.


Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.


The evil are ensnared by the transgression of their lips, but the righteous escape from trouble.


The mouths of fools are their ruin, and their lips a snare to themselves.


Then the people as a whole answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”


but I feared provocation by the enemy, for their adversaries might misunderstand and say, “Our hand is triumphant; it was not the Lord who did all this.”
