It is not the old that are wise, nor the aged that understand what is right.


The wealth of the rich is their strong city; in their imagination it is like a high wall.


The one who first states a case seems right, until the other comes and cross-examines.


Better the poor walking in integrity than one perverse of speech who is a fool.


Do not wear yourself out to get rich; be wise enough to desist.


Do you see persons wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for fools than for them.


The lazy person is wiser in self-esteem than seven who can answer discreetly.


Answer fools according to their folly, or they will be wise in their own eyes.


Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.


Ah, you who are wise in your own eyes, and shrewd in your own sight!


So that you may not claim to be wiser than you are, brothers and sisters, I want you to understand this mystery: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.


Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are.


As for those who in the present age are rich, command them not to be haughty, or to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but rather on God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
