There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.


although you know that I am not guilty, and there is no one to deliver out of your hand?


I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called upon God and he answered me, a just and blameless man, I am a laughingstock.


I have indeed prepared my case; I know that I shall be vindicated.


You say, ‘I am clean, without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me.


that it would please God to crush me, that he would let loose his hand and cut me off!


Why do you not pardon my transgression and take away my iniquity? For now I shall lie in the earth; you will seek me, but I shall not be.”


Though I am innocent, I cannot answer him; I must appeal for mercy to my accuser.


Those who trust in their own wits are fools; but those who walk in wisdom come through safely.


I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me.


whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.
