I fell asleep a second time and I saw in my dream seven ears of grain, full and good, growing on one stalk,


and the thin ears swallowed up the seven good ears. But when I told it to the magicians, there was no one who could explain it to me.”


Then seven ears, thin and blighted by the east wind, sprouted after them.


while their inhabitants, shorn of strength, are dismayed and confounded; they have become like plants of the field and like tender grass, like grass on the housetops, blighted before it is grown.


Although he may flourish among rushes, the east wind shall come, a blast from the Lord, rising from the wilderness; and his fountain shall dry up, his spring shall be parched. It shall strip his treasury of every precious thing.


For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. The standing grain has no heads, it shall yield no meal; if it were to yield, foreigners would devour it.


Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, I will kill the cherished offspring of their womb.
