Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the boy and I will go over there; we will worship, and then we will come back to you.”


Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here; for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” But he said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them went on.


All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.


This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.”


and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.


He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
