5 “When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be liable for any other public duty. He shall be free at home one year to be happy with his wife whom he has taken.

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.


Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth,


Enjoy life with the wife whom you love, all the days of your vain life that he has given you under the sun, because that is your portion in life and in your toil at which you toil under the sun.


And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’


This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none,


And is there any man who has betrothed a wife and has not taken her? Let him go back to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man take her.’
