I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called upon God and he answered me, a just and blameless man, I am a laughingstock.


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers, “Kings shall see and stand up, princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


He was despised and rejected by others; a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity; and as one from whom others hide their faces he was despised, and we held him of no account.


And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside, and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him, and went in where the child was.


And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.


But when Jesus heard it, he said, “This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”


But Paul went down, and bending over him took him in his arms, and said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.”


Peter put all of them outside, and then he knelt down and prayed. He turned to the body and said, “Tabitha, get up.” Then she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up.
