Mark 15:19
32 Marejeleo ya Msalaba

When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed his face down to the ground and worshiped Yahweh.

“Yes,” they replied, “our father, your servant, is still alive and doing well.” And they bowed low before Joseph in respect.

The leaders, the influential ones—how they scorn my passion for you! I’ve become the talk of the town, the theme of drunkards’ songs.

I make this solemn oath to you in my own name; this word sent from my mouth in righteousness will not return unfulfilled: ‘Truly every knee will bow before me and every tongue will solemnly swear allegiance to me!’

Yahweh, Israel’s Kinsman-Redeemer and Holy One, says to the one who is deeply despised and repulsed by rulers and a slave to the ruling class: “Kings will see and stand up in respect; princes will bow down to honor the faithfulness of Yahweh, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

I offered my back to those who flogged me and my cheek to those who tore out my beard. I never hid my face from demeaning insults or from those who spit on me.

Just as many were appalled at the sight of him (for so marred was his appearance, like an object of horror; he no longer looked like a man),

Then they spat in his face and took the reed staff from his hand and hit him repeatedly on his head, driving the crown of thorns deeper.

And they will mock him, spit in his face, torture him, and kill him, but three days later he will rise again.”

Then they spat on his face and blindfolded him. Others struck him over and over with their fists and taunted him by saying, “Prophesy to us! Tell us which one of us is about to hit you next?” And the guards took him and beat him.

And with a mock salute they repeatedly cried out, “Hail, your majesty, king of the Jews!”

When they finished ridiculing him, they took off the purple robe, put his own clothes back on him, and led him away to be crucified.

He answered them, “They’re right. Elijah must come first to put everything in order. And what about all that is written about the Son of Man? It is true that he must endure many sufferings and be rejected.

Those who were guarding Jesus mocked and beat him severely.

The soldiers joined in the mockery, offering Jesus a drink of vinegar.

But what was the revelation God spoke to him in response? “You are not alone. For I have preserved a remnant for myself—seven thousand others who are faithful and have refused to worship Baal.”

The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and in the demonic realm.

So we must arise and join him outside the religious “walls” and bear his disgrace.
