Jeremiah 31:23 - Good News Translation

23 The Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says, “When I restore the people to their land, they will once again say in the land of Judah and in its towns, ‘May the Lord bless the sacred hill of Jerusalem, the holy place where he lives.’

May the Lord bless you from Zion! May you see Jerusalem prosper all the days of your life!


No one who passes by will say, “May the Lord bless you! We bless you in the name of the Lord.”


May the Lord, who made heaven and earth, bless you from Zion!


Save your people, Lord, and bless those who are yours. Be their shepherd, and take care of them forever.


The city that once was faithful is behaving like a whore! At one time it was filled with righteous people, but now only murderers remain.


I will give you rulers and advisers like those you had long ago. Then Jerusalem will be called the righteous, faithful city.”


On Zion, God's sacred hill, there will be nothing harmful or evil. The land will be as full of knowledge of the Lord as the seas are full of water.


Everywhere in the land righteousness and justice will be done.


How great the Lord is! He rules over everything. He will fill Jerusalem with justice and integrity


Your people will all do what is right, And will possess the land forever. I planted them, I made them, To reveal my greatness to all.


Yes, I say, you will find me, and I will restore you to your land. I will gather you from every country and from every place to which I have scattered you, and I will bring you back to the land from which I had sent you away into exile. I, the Lord, have spoken.’


The Lord says, “I will restore my people to their land and have mercy on every family; Jerusalem will be rebuilt, and its palace restored.


People will buy them, and the deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed. This will take place in the territory of Benjamin, in the villages around Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah, and in the towns in the hill country, in the foothills, and in southern Judah. I will restore the people to their land. I, the Lord, have spoken.”


They are attacked by all who find them. Their enemies say, ‘They sinned against the Lord, and so what we have done is not wrong. Their ancestors trusted in the Lord, and they themselves should have remained faithful to him.’


“But on Mount Zion some will escape, and it will be a sacred place. The people of Jacob will possess the land that is theirs by right.


In days to come the mountain where the Temple stands will be the highest one of all, towering above all the hills. Many nations will come streaming to it,


I will return to Jerusalem, my holy city, and live there. It will be known as the faithful city, and the hill of the Lord Almighty will be called the sacred hill.


Some time later Boaz himself arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the workers. “The Lord be with you!” he said. “The Lord bless you!” they answered.
