Thus says the Lord: “Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce, with which I sent her away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities you were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was sent away.


And the Lord said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.


“Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah, but died for his own sin. And he had no sons.


But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’


and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.


But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?”


and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.”


But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.


Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem?


And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”


Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”


for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,


Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
