And so I intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord said to David my father, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, shall build the house for my name.’


Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;


I have sworn an oath and confirmed it, to keep your righteous rules.


Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God.


Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!


Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.


The king assigned them a daily portion of the food that the king ate, and of the wine that he drank. They were to be educated for three years, and at the end of that time they were to stand before the king.


They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.


When he came and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast purpose,


but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.


But whoever is firmly established in his heart, being under no necessity but having his desire under control, and has determined this in his heart, to keep her as his betrothed, he will do well.


Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.


who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offering? Let them rise up and help you; let them be your protection!
