And when the Madianite merchants passed by, they drew him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ismaelites, for twenty pieces of silver: and they led him into Egypt.


And they arose out of Madian, and came into Pharan. And they took men with them from Pharan, and went into Egypt to Pharao the king of Egypt: who gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and assigned him land.


Now the chiefs over the tribes of Israel were these: Over the Rubenites, Eliezer the son of Zechri was ruler: Over the Simeonites, Saphatias the son of Maacha:


Let the fear of the Lord be with you, and do all things with diligence. For there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor desire of gifts.


Fifty-nine thousand three hundred.


And the covenant of the priesthood for ever shall be both to him and his seed, because he hath been zealous for his God, and hath made atonement for the wickedness of the children of Israel.


And the Madianite woman, that was slain with him, was called Cozbi, the daughter of Sur, a most noble prince among the Madianites.


These are the families of the stock of Simeon, of which the whole number was twenty-two thousand two hundred.
