Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of Jehovah to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.


David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.


And Jehovah smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham the king’s son was over the household, judging the people of the land.


Neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and Jehovah smote him, and he died.


Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled; Thou takest away their breath, they die, And return to their dust.


And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

And David said, As Jehovah liveth, Jehovah will smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle and perish.
