Then the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas,
Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison.
Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance.
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.”
When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, “Crucify him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no guilt in him.”
The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why did you not bring him?”
But when the officers came, they did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported,
Then the captain with the officers went and brought them, but not by force, for they were afraid of being stoned by the people.
