Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. This is David’s city.


David lived in the stronghold, and called it David’s city. David built around from Millo and inward.


So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.


Then Solomon began to build the house of YHWH at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where YHWH appeared to David his father, which he prepared in the place that David had appointed, on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.


Thus YHWH saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.


Now after this, he built an outer wall to David’s city on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fish gate. He encircled Ophel with it, and raised it up to a very great height; and he put valiant captains in all the fortified cities of Judah.


So Hilkiah and those whom the king had commanded went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter), and they spoke to her to that effect.


and above the gate of Ephraim, and by the old gate, and by the fish gate, the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hammeah, even to the sheep gate; and they stood still in the gate of the guard.


The sons of Hassenaah built the fish gate. They laid its beams, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.


We all roar like bears and moan-moan like doves. We look for justice, but there is none, for salvation, but it is far off from us.


In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city.


For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, the anguish as of her who gives birth to her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, who gasps for breath, who spreads her hands, saying, “Woe is me now! For my soul faints before the murderers.”


Y’all will know that I am YHWH when their people lie slain around their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every green tree, and under every thick oak—the places where they offered pleasant aroma to all their idols.


The songs of the temple will be wailing in that day,” says Lord YHWH. “The dead bodies will be many. In every place they will throw them out with silence.


That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,


Be silent at the presence of Lord YHWH, for the day of YHWH is at hand. For YHWH has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.
