The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau. He is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.”


You must not overpick your vineyard or gather every fallen grapes. You are to leave them for the poor and for the foreigner. I am YHWH y’all’s God.


“‘You must not go around as a slanderer among your people. “‘You must not endanger the blood of your neighbor. I am YHWH.


“‘When y’all reap the harvest of y’all’s land, do not wholly reap the corners of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest.


“‘When y’all the harvest of y’all’s land, you must not completely reap into the corners of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You are to leave them for the poor and for the foreigner. I am YHWH y’all’s God.’”


She went out and began to glean in the field behind the harvesters. Now she just happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was from the family of Elimelech.


She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the harvesters.’ So she came and has continued from the morning until now, except for a short rest in the hut.”


She said, “Let your servant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate; and her facial expression wasn’t sad any more.
