But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety toward their own family and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.


At meal time Boaz said to her, “Come here, eat some food, and dip your bread in the vinegar.” She sat beside the harvests, and they passed her some roasted grain. She ate until she was satisfied, and saved the leftover.


So she gleaned in the field until evening. Then she beat out what she had gathered, and it was about an ephah of barley.
